Using a variety of mediums, I seek to depict images that communicate the essence of the incorporated mediums while utilizing theory as a lens to explore a variety of subject matters. Semiotics and Color Theory are commonly explored in my work in an effort to communicate my interest in depicting the poetry of everyday objects, familiar scenes, and their contexts as they relate to my experiences. In my current series of paintings, I am exploring portraiture and the current popularity of Snapchat filters. Utilizing different techniques of applying oil paint, I am experimenting with how a person’s image is manipulated or altered depending on the type of
filter applied.
